Muddy Roots 2017 Festival recap
Our last trip out to Tennessee for Muddy Roots was an interesting one. We knew a hurricane had been lurking about but we saw no sign of until we got there and finished setting up camp. Then the sky opened up!Our tent and awning collapsed down on top of Linda and I and had us trapped for a bit until a kind stranger happened by and pulled the waterlogged tent off of us. It was as if being reborn.
After rebuilding camp and a couple trips to town for new awning supplies we were off to the shows.Of course my band,Imperial Rooster played , and we were awesome if I say so myself, even if it was a little wet. Pinata Protest from Tejas were incredible as usual and had everyone dancing in the mud.
One highlight for me was Freight Train Rabbit Killer from Kansas City. they were the best damn blues rock swamp gothic ,what ever box you want to put em in, band I have ever seen. Rabbit masks and all .See you on the other side , indeed.
Finally, on Sunday we fired up the stove and made Frito Pies and BBQ for anyone who had a hankerin’. Duane Mark.I hate that guy, really knows how to put on a spread. I dont know how many we fed but it was a bunch.I hope we do it agin this year.
